What’s On for Older People in Hertfordshire: Groups, Clubs and Events by Town

What's on for older people in Hertfordshire, town by town: 229 regular groups and 22 dated events across 10 areas, from coffee mornings and lunch clubs to chair exercise, memory cafes, carers' groups and free digital help. Each town page gives the day, venue, cost and contact for every entry, taken from the organiser's own page and checked weekly. Whether you are looking for activities for the elderly, clubs for the over 60s or things to do near a parent who is at home too much, start with your town.

To talk anything through with someone local, our St Albans office is on 01727 324 127, and each town page carries its own team's number.

Last checked Monday 19 October 2026. Details are the organisers' own and can change at short notice, so please confirm before travelling.

If getting there is the hard part

Often the barrier is not the group but the journey and the morning before it. Our companionship care includes accompanying people to groups, appointments and outings, so a weekly club can become a fixed part of the week again. Visiting care is from £34 an hour.

Where the information comes from

Councils (Hertfordshire County Council, St Albans City and District, Welwyn Hatfield, Hertsmere, Dacorum, North Herts and East Herts, plus town and parish councils), established charities (Age UK Hertfordshire, Carers in Hertfordshire, Alzheimer's Society, Communities 1st, Community Action Dacorum, Herts Musical Memories), libraries, museums and the organisers' own pages.

We do not inspect or endorse any group, and no one pays to be listed. Regular groups are grouped by type on each town page: coffee and chat, lunch clubs, social clubs, exercise and movement, hobbies and interests, dementia friendly, carers' groups, digital help, and faith and community groups open to all.

Common questions

Is this a list of Starling Homecare groups?

No. These are groups and events run by councils, charities, churches and community organisations across Hertfordshire. We list them because families ask us what is on locally, and because a good week usually has something in it beyond care visits.

How do I get a group added?

Email [email protected] with the day, time, venue, cost, who it is for and a link to your own page. We add it at the next weekly check. We only list groups that are open to the public or to older people generally.

Are the details checked?

Each entry is read against the organiser's own page or a council listing before it is added and again each week. We cannot inspect groups in person, so please confirm with the organiser before travelling, especially around bank holidays and Christmas.
