Job Description
Care Coordinator
A premium homecare service, and a team looked after to the same standard.
£25,500 to £27,500 a year, plus a wellbeing package paid for in full by us: your own 24/7 private GP, counselling, physiotherapy, life coaching and over 1,500 everyday discounts. Full time, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Permanent. Based at our St Albans office.
Starling Homecare is a growing, family run, independently owned homecare provider in St Albans, bringing good old fashioned values back into care. We are building the service that families in Hertfordshire ask for by name: the carer who turns up when they said they would, knows the client by name and by habit, and does the small things properly. Our founders spent more than a decade building and running an award-winning homecare service in this county before starting Starling Homecare, and we hold high standards because people deserve the best.
We believe the people who deliver that standard deserve it too. So we give our team a proper wellbeing package: a private GP when you need one, someone to talk to when you need that, and support for your health and your everyday life, paid for by us, in full.
We are CQC registered and provide visiting care across St Albans, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Hatfield, and live-in care across Hertfordshire.
The role
As Care Coordinator, you will help run the rota that our clients experience as reliability. Working alongside the Senior Care Coordinator and the Care Manager, you will plan visits, match carers to clients and respond calmly when needs change, so that every client receives consistent, reliable support from people they know. We are growing, and we are committed to supporting as many people as possible across Hertfordshire to receive high quality care at home. We are family run, so you will be supported from your first day, in a team that takes learning seriously and backs its people to develop.
As Care Coordinator you will:
- Plan and update rotas so care is consistent and efficient
- Match carers to clients based on skills, availability and continuity
- Keep our scheduling system up to date with new packages, changes and cancellations
- Respond to last-minute changes, sickness and emergencies in a calm, professional way
- Support carers with scheduling queries
- Keep clients informed about timings and changes
- Take your share of the on-call rota
- Help maintain compliance with CQC standards and our own procedures
What you get
Pay and progression
- £25,500 to £27,500 a year, depending on experience
- Full induction and system training
- Company pension
- On-site parking at our St Albans office
- Real opportunities to progress as we expand across Hertfordshire (see below)
- A kind, respectful and professional working culture rooted in family values
Your wellbeing package, paid for in full, from six months
- 24/7 on-demand private GP with video, phone and text appointments
- Up to eight counselling sessions per issue each year with accredited therapists
- Unlimited digital physiotherapy
- Confidential one to one life coaching
- Menopause health support and online eye health screening
- Digital gym with weekly live classes, and discounted membership at over 4,000 fitness centres
- 24/7 legal and debt helplines
- Over 1,500 savings and discounts on everyday shopping, refreshed weekly, plus cashback
- Cinema tickets at up to 60% off

- Complimentary will writing and storage
- 24/7 pet health service with qualified vets
Where this role can go
We are an expanding group. Demand for what we do is high, and we are planning continued expansion throughout Hertfordshire, with new offices to follow this one. If you want to be an excellent Care Coordinator and stay one, there is a proper long-term role here for you. If you have the ambition and the ability to go further, Senior Care Coordinator and, in time, Deputy Care Manager roles will open up as we grow, and we will back the people who want them with the support and development to get there.
What we ask of you
There will be times when we ask for flexibility: an early start, a late finish, or a weekend when the service needs it. That is part of supporting as many people as possible across Hertfordshire to receive high quality care at home, and it works both ways. The people who give it are rewarded for it: paid properly, looked after through our wellbeing package, and backed with real development and career opportunities as we grow and new offices open. We are looking for people who want to be part of that mission with us.
Who we are looking for
In how you work, you are highly organised, calm and friendly. You enjoy making things run smoothly, you stay steady when the phone will not stop, and you understand that a well built rota is what lets a carer knock on the same door every week.
What you will need
Essential: experience of working in care, ideally homecare; strong IT and admin skills; a calm, solution-focused approach to change; clear, professional communication; good geographical knowledge of the local area; full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle; right to work in the UK.
Desirable: experience of rostering or scheduling; familiarity with care scheduling software; experience supporting field-based care teams; business insurance if using your car for work.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. We are not accepting agency applications or enquiries at this time.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life. What matters most is your values, your reliability, and your heart for care.
