Our Services

Home Care Shaped Around You
Every person and every family is different, so at Starling Homecare we offer a range of personalised home care services to support you or your loved one at home, across St Albans, Harpenden and throughout Hertfordshire. As a family-run, CQC-regulated agency, we provide care to the same standard we would want for our own loved ones.
Whether you need regular daily support or occasional help, we work closely with each person we support and their family to understand what matters most, then shape the care around their life. Every service is delivered with professionalism, warmth and genuine attention to the things that make daily life feel settled.
Care can be arranged as visits during the day, support overnight, or full live-in care, depending on what suits the person and the family.

Frequently asked questions about home care
What is home care?
Home care, sometimes called domiciliary care, means support provided in your own home rather than in a care home, shaped around your routines and what you find difficult day to day. It can be anything from a short daily visit to help with washing, dressing or medication, through to companionship, help around the house, or full live-in support. As a family-run, CQC-regulated agency, we plan it with you so the right amount of help is there and can change gently as needs do.
How do I arrange home care with Starling Homecare?
It starts with a conversation. We take time to understand the situation, answer your questions and explain the options, then arrange an assessment to plan care around the person’s needs and routines. There is no rush, and we are happy to talk things through at your pace.
What types of home care do you provide?
We offer personal care, dementia and Alzheimer’s care, live-in care, companionship, medication support, post-hospital and rehabilitation care, respite care, end-of-life and palliative care, later life care, and domestic support. Care can be combined and adjusted as needs change.
How do I know which service is right for us?
You do not need to have it worked out in advance. We will listen to what is happening, offer honest guidance and help you decide what suits the person and the family best. If needs change over time, the care can change with them.
How do I know if we need home care?
It often starts with small signs: everyday tasks like washing, dressing, cooking or remembering medication becoming harder, more time spent alone, or a family member quietly taking on more and more. There is no need to wait for a crisis. If you are unsure, we are glad to talk things through, and an informal chat or assessment can help you see what, if anything, would help. Support can begin gently and grow only if and when it is needed.
Can home care be funded or arranged through the council or NHS?
Some people fund care privately, while others may be eligible for support through their local authority or the NHS depending on their circumstances. We are glad to talk through how this generally works and point you towards the right place for a funding assessment.
What hours is home care available?
We provide visiting care seven days a week, from 7am to 10pm, and overnight care from 10pm to 7am. For those who need round-the-clock support, our live-in care offers a carer in the home 24 hours a day. Our office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, for enquiries and to arrange care.
Which areas do you cover?
We provide home care across Hertfordshire, including St Albans, Harpenden, Radlett, Shenley, Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring, as well as the surrounding towns and villages. If you live nearby, please get in touch and we will let you know how we can help.
Every care visit is shaped around the individual receiving it. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care.
